Artists for Longwood Cyber Residency and Exhibition Program for 2004-
2005 |

My work as an artist is one of collector, interpreter and organizer of disparate visual elements. By gleaning fragmented images from daily experience and re-positioning them into new relationships I investigate the associative nature of meaning and create a personalized, composite whole. This process of assembling, editing and arranging component parts takes form as visual grammar –a linguistic syntax subject to its own logic. Soft-edge, painterly marks juxtaposed with linear, graphic elements show language as both facilitator and barrier, as these pieces often imply narratives yet withhold concrete meaning. Art operates within a given structure and set of variables. I see my work as an opportunity to make sense of these “givens” and re-contextualize them in order to explore new possibilities. The project that I will create
for the Longwood CyberResidency will consist of both physical and virtual “landscapes”,
taking the form of unique digital prints as well as online topographies
that
the viewer may explore. These invented landscapes will be constructed
from found, altered images that are pieced together through a scrapbooking
process. |

| All You Can Eat
Is a continuation of my investigations on the subjects of cooking and eating. This performative project consists of a series of inedible recipes in which ingredients as well as food handling procedures entice cyber diners to sample and digest a virtual menu that features the human body as an integral component of the dishes created. In All You Can Eat I pay close attention to the cultural, social, political and sexual aspects of food, and the act of nourishing the organism. Ingredients for the various recipes include: sugar, rice, buckwheat,
flour, beans, meats, seafood, and exotic fruits. |

Officially
recognized Flags with their styles being created and developed according
to the need, such as national flags, the unique designs of honor guard
flags, military flags or folk flags. Based on those long traditions and
their History. My “New World Project” is the personalized
Flag project to stimulate the National Patriotism. This is a part of my
Flag making project to offer a chance to share the diverse cultures on
our planet.
This Project has the theme of "Peace" that will be represented through the new flags with my desire and wish for peace. |

| I am interested in learning to use the internet
to
create an interactive comic book character called Wepa
Woman, a latina super hero based on the basic latina stereotypes. I propose that the adventures that she undertakes be illustrated on her site, and at the same time, the images that are created are not pages in a book, instead they are murals throughout the city, starting in locations in the Bronx. People that hit the site get to see adventures unfold as the execution of the murals are video streamed. New visitors can check out previous murals either on location or online. Viewers would be invited to tour the city virtually or combined with an actual Bronx Cultural Trolley tour. Viewers can also interact with me online via blog, and virtually paint (using a flash application) the mural that has been created. |
