This
exhibition Cyber_Folio includes the web projects produced during the
2001-2002 Residency complemented with recent gallery work by Resident
Artists Karina Aguilera Skvirsky, Heng-Gil Han, Mary Magsamen, Moses
Ros, and Jenna Spevack. Together, these projects continue the experimentation
with new technology that exemplifies the Residency. Aguilera Skvirsky
produced a photo- and video-based, web project Longwood Ave. that was
influenced by her experiences as a Resident Artist and with the Longwood
neighborhood. Magsamen’s playful database project Mary, the Hairy
Scary Fairy is a pyramid scheme that grants wishes to online visitors.
Spevack’s web project animates her minimalist drawings that are
accompanied by South Asian-influenced percussive sounds. Han’s
conceptual project Manifold Shaping examines the cyclical and indexical
nature of text and images using words and photographs of his work as
hyperlinks. Lastly, Bronx artist Moses Ros completed his website titled
Crossroads that introduces his gallery work and public art projects
to online visitors.
